CROSS BORDER COOPERATION

Center for development of Pelagonija region is eligible applicant on two cross-border cooperation programmes within the second component of the Instrument for pre-accession assistance: Programme for cross-border cooperation between Republic of Macedonia and Greece and Programme for cross-border cooperation between Republic of Macedonia and Albania. On 5 open calls for project proposals within both programmes, CDPPR has submitted or participated in preparation of more than 10 project applications. 2 of them, within the Programme for cross-border cooperation with Greece have been approved to CDPPR as lead project applicant.

DEVELOPING JOINT CROSS BORDER FIRE PROTECTION PLAN – FIRESHIELD

The overall objective of the project was to contribute to the cross border cooperation in the protection of environmental resources thru development of a cross border joint fire protection plan and build up of the regional fire departments capacities. Activities of the project included information and publicity, development of joint fire protection plan, fire protection capacity building actions and exchange of experience. Project partners were Center for Development of Pelagonija region, Development Agency of Florina ANFLO, Municipality of Bitola, Municipality of Prilep and Region of Western Macedonia.

FIRESHIELD outputs include:

  • 140 above-ground fire hydrants purchased and installed;
  • 96 sets of special fire-protection equipment purchased for fire brigades in Pelagonija region;
  • Motorbike fire protection voluntary team established;
  • ICT equipment for fire protection purchased and put into function;
  • Satellite fire protection monitoring enabled;
  • Info singes for fire protection installed;

Project results are:

  • Developed joint plan for fire protection between the two cross-border regions;
  • Established cross-border cooperation among the target groups (regional authorities, municipalities, fire brigades) through conducted analysis, workshops and preparatory meetings;
  • Improved protection of the environment in the cross-border region;
  • Improved technical capacities of the fire brigades;
  • Public awareness raised;

INNOVATIVE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMMES ENHANCING THE ENVIRONMENTAL RESOURCES OF THE CROSS-BORDER REGION PELAGONIJA/FLORINA – ZOO INNOVATIVE

Overall objective of the project is to contribute towards enhancement of the environmental resources in the cross border region of Pelagonija/Florina thru introduction of innovative educational programmes in the cross-border region, building capacities of the relevant stakeholders regarding the biodiversity management, development of Zoo infrastructure in order to support institutional capacities towards environmental enhancement and raising awareness campaign. Partners in project implementation were Center for development of Pelagonija region, Regional development Agency of Florina, Municipality of Bitola, Municipality of Florina and Zoo Garden Bitola. Zoo Innovative invested 600.000 EUR in environmental protection in Pelagonija region according to the EU standards.

Project results:

- 8 animal enclosures in Zoo Bitola built;

- 2 complementary objects in Zoo Bitola built;

- Voluntary system with 10 volunteers in Zoo Bitola established;

- Developed and put into function 5 educational tours in Zoo Bitola;

- 240.000 inhabitants from the cross border region informed about the importance of the environmental resources;

- Study trip for voluntary system members to Zoo Ljubljana, Slovenia implemented;

- Trainings for students and civil servants from the cross border region implemented;

- 10 sets of equipment for volunteers in Zoo Bitola purchased;

-Institutional capacities of the cross border region Pelagonija/Florina for biodiversity protection improved;
