Center for Development of Pelagonija region on 17th of May 2016 in Hotel Millennium in Bitola organized a workshop for the preparation of Regional Innovation Strategy. This process is carried out in all regions with the support of the Ministry of Local Self-Government and the German Society for International Cooperation within the project "Sustainable and inclusive regional economic development in Macedonia".
The preparation of the Regional Innovation Strategy aims to stimulate innovation, entrepreneurship and better use of innovative potential of the regions by strengthening the cooperation between research centers and the business community, while focusing on the development of SMEs. Regional innovation strategies will be prepared and implemented with the involvement of representatives from the public sector, private sector (economic chambers, business associations, companies, etc.), research and educational institutions, and civil society.
The approach applied in the development of regional innovation strategies is smart specialization, which is the main element in the innovation policies of EU, and is directing the innovation process towards characteristic and developed industries in the region that has developed human resources.
