On June 18, 2012, the Center for Development of Pelagonia region (CDPR) held the first working meeting within the project “Plan for development of cross-border joint fire – FIRESHIELD”.At the first working meeting despite the organizations involved in the project’s implementation: Center for Development of Pelagonia region, the Regional development Agency – ANFLO, Florina the Municipalities of Bitola and Prilep, the Region of Western Macedonia, the participants welcomed the Mayor of Bitola Mr.Vladimir Taleski
who noted that this is one of the most important projects that Pelagonia will realize this year, given that in the past years Bitola was affected by a large number of fires and dealing with them was exceeded by more than a human effort. Also, the Mayor of Bitola said he is convinced that the implementation of the project will greatly improve the cooperation between the fire units of Bitola and Florina and will provide greater protection from fires and their timely prevention. The first working meeting was attended by the Mayor of Florina, Mr. Ioannis Vaskopulos, who said that the Municipality of Florina has also been grapping with major fires in the past years and hopes that after the implementation of this project will enhance capacity on institutional and technical level.This project is financially supported by the IPA of the European Union on Cross-Borded Cooperation between Macedonia and Greece.
