Emilia Geroska - Director of the Development Center of the Pelagonija planned region and Nesad Azemovski-coordinator of international cooperation, were on business visit of the European capital Brussels from May 31st to June 3rd.
A part of the business visit was the participation in the conference “ FIRST MEETING OF THE REFORM LEADERS OF THE WESTERN BALKAN REGIONS AND THE EXPERTS OF PROJECT FINANCING FROM THE EUROPEAN UNION FUNDS” which was attended by eminent persons from the highest level political life of the European Union.The representatives of the Pelagonija planned region had meetings with the euro-parliamentarians Jelko Kacin, Aloise Petrle and Tania Fayon who confirmed the efforts for quickening of the process of Macedonian membership in the EU and the input which the institutions and organizations in the Republic of Macedonia should have.The second working part of the conference paid more attention to the ways and opportunities for application in the European funds, as well as the principles of significant importance on evaluation of the project proposals.On June 3rd 2010 in Brussels, a meeting was held with the lobby platform Forum der regionen. The partnership with this organization is in direction of connecting the Pelagonija planned region with some of the regions in Belgium and realization of mutual projects.The meeting with Peter Sondergard, representative of the Association of local democracies (ALDA) in Brussels was in observing the possibilities for membership of the Pelagonija planned region in this association and connection with the parties included in regional development.The visit in Brussels was also used for a meeting with Mara Silina, executive director of the European Environmental Bureau. The participation at the European Green Week international conference was an opportunity to observe the experiences in terms of using the biological and cultural diversity in the regional development of Europe.
